Description

In order to meet the new environmental standards of the Government of Canada, the Arctic Bay community had to upgrade their wastewater treatment facilities. To this end, Kudlik Construction Ltd. was tasked with the construction of a new groundwater retention basin. For technical reasons, the basin was built far from the village in a remote mountain area. The project also included the construction of a 1.5 km road. It was necessary to blast the permafrost in order to anchor a waterproof membrane. Finally, the installation of thermistors in the walls of the embankment will track the temperature at the center of the berms and ensure water tightness in the future.
